Prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions

Prescriptions can be sent directly to your preferred pharmacy, or if you prefer, you can collect them from the reception desk. If you wish to change your preferred pharmacy please contact the reception team.

If you are on long- term medication you may be able to receive your prescriptions on a regular basis without having to be seen. To order more of your medication, you can call us on main surgery line 01506 654444 (Please call after 10am for any prescription requests or queries), or email us on simpson.scripts@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration prior to using the service.

Please note, if you require your prescription early please let us know the reason why - for example, if you have lost some medication, or if you are going on holiday. If you are going on holiday it is useful for us to have the dates so we can ensure you have enough medication to cover your time away.

Please allow three full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Preferred Pharmacy

Would it be easier to collect your medication directly from a pharmacy rather than having to come to the health centre for the prescription?

Please let us know if you would like to use our preferred pharmacy system - simply speak to any member of staff and let us know which pharmacy you normally use, and we will add this to your notes so that your prescriptions are automatically delivered to the pharmacy of your choice.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
